15TH HOLE AT DEVILS KNOB GOLF COURSE (06/29)
I am quite happy to tell you today's Photograph Of The Day was taken today, rather than from stock. Aside from my profession as a professional photographer, I am a Starter at Devils Knob Golf Course. Although the scene looks like a warm summery day, it was 51 degrees this morning with the wind blowing in excess of 20 mph. To say it was cool, is putting it mildly. But this is life at 3,500 feet and this course is the highest in the state of Virginia. It's not a long, but you have to be accurate. The fairways are narrow and the greens are very fast.
Okay, so why did I take this particular photograph? I just like this hole. It's a short one, only a Par 3, but the scene composes well. I shot from the Red Tee (no pun intended).
Do I play golf? Well, I am not good at it and that is stretching the the truth to the breaking point. Let's just say my athletic prowesses are snow skiing, hiking, and swimming.
