I am dedicating today's Photograph Of The Day to my friend, colleague, and mentor --- Lee Luthor. Like myself, Lee is a sports and event photographer and we will often see each other on a photoshoot. He was kidding me yesterday about my nature photography so today I am posting one of my favorite sports photographs.
How did I get this shot? Some skill, and, some luck, no doubt. I had one eye looking through the lens and the other on the pitcher. When the pitcher wound up and before he released the ball, I started firing in continuous mode. The shutter speed on this photograph was 1/325th of a second, so you can see how far the ball traveled during that time.
