I have contributed many of my works to The Wintergreen Performing Arts, and I am doing so again during their annual Summer Music Festival.
When I capture what is happening in the moment with an artist during performance, I have succeeded in accomplishing my goal. The scene is real; the violinist is performing. There is an energy between the artist, the music, and the audience that I think would be very difficult to replicate in a studio. Look at the expression on her face. What is she thinking? She is caught up in the moment. Her violin is an extension of herself.
I love classical music, and I also play the piano albeit I don't get to play very often. But I can still read music and I still remember musical theory. Actually, music is very mathematical.
