GOLF ANYONE? (06/11)
During my sojourns to Lake Monacan in world famous Nellysford, Virginia, I always like to walk around the lake and photograph some of the holes which surround the lake. I don't know which hole this one is, but it's one of the 27 holes (Monacan 9, Tuckahoe 9, and Stoney Creek 9) that form the Stoney Creek Golf Course.
I have photographed this particular hole many times. Why do I like it? I just like the scene. It's pretty. It's calming. Well, as long as you maintain the pace of play.
There are two golf courses at Wintergreen Resort. The first, Stoney Creek, is in the valley. It is long, wide, and forgiving. The second is Devil's Knob which is the highest golf course in Virginia at 3,500 ft. Unlike Stoney Creek, it is shorter, narrower, and very unforgiving.
