OFF HE GOES! (06/20)
Last month I did a photoshoot of "Bike Out Virginia!". It was sponsored by Trinity Episcopal Church in world famous Lovingston, Virginia.
Today's photograph shows a young tyke heading off for the finish with the double yellow lines to guide him. So what goes through my head as I see this photograph. Right now I see a young boy on a tricycle heading off what is to him a great adventure. He gets to ride in the street! Wow! He is doing something the grown ups do. What a thrill!
Fast forward about twenty years. I see a young man in a business suit driving down this same road to his first job after graduating college. Of course, he could also be in a pickup truck working as a tradesman. The possibilities are endless.
For me, roads always imply journeys. So I see this boy as a lawyer, doctor, engineer, teacher, plumber, electrician, carpenter, or cabinet maker. Who knows, he may even become a professional photographer. Regardless, the journey always begins on a road.
